I would like to thank everyone who has supported Digital Doodling over the past year. It has been fun getting to know many of you but personally for myself, it is time to close this chapter on DD and move on.

I will leave the site open to allow you to download any freebies you may wish but there will be no further new posts on this site.

Thank you for following this site and for the encouragement many of you have shown. You have been and are a great bunch.

Dan-yr-Ogof Dinosaur Park and Welsh Showcaves

Visited the Dinosaur Park at Dan-yr-Ogof, Wales. It's one great place to visit whether you're a little kid or a 'big' kid ;D !! Also visited one of Wales' best kept secrets, i.e. the National Showcaves Centre for Wales... The caves were really amazing... At present, I'm putting together my holiday snaps and digitally scrapping them little by little... Hope you enjoy browsing and sharing a little piece of my holiday and what I've so far scrapped :D

Been away for a week in Wales and just got back last night! Unfortunately, the weather was not brilliant but we made the most of it regardless. Thought I'd post a few photos (and some scrapbook pages) of where we stayed...

(here I have used 2 metal pins to give the impression of

This particular page was chosen as the 'Featured Scrapbook Page' on the

Daisy Trail (Sans Seriff) website on 01.09.10

what life was like in the cottage / barn before it was converted...

Love playing around with DSA 2... Used some filter effects for this particular page... there are just soooooooooo may features in this computer package that it seems there is always something new to learn... Haven't made a card since I got the programme!!! Never thought I'd find another hobby that I enjoy as much as paper crafting nor one as addictive but life's full of surprises!

Enjoying a wee break from doodling and taking some time to enjoy a new hobby. Above is my latest digital scrapbook page. If you've never tried digital scrapbooking - I'd encourage you to have a go. You can download a free Scrapbook programme at Daisy Trail. There are literally thousands of freebies for digital scrapbooking online and so there's no layout fees unless you want to purchase kits or go for a more advanced scrapbook programme (e.g. DSA 2). What's more, you can print off most scrapbook freebies and use them on your cards as toppers and background papers, etc... Go on - have a go... however, I must warn you - it's very addictive!!! :D

P.S. You may have to play around with in DSA 2 (or whatever programme you use) to cut and remove the backgrounds and 'windows' where the photos slot but it's well worth the effort as these frames are fab.

It was a beautiful sunny, warm day yesterday and whilst out for a drive, I visited my favourite craft shop in Aberdeenshire, i.e. Simply Create in Alford.

Met Jacqui (the owner) briefly as she was busy with craft classes in the village hall and just popped in to the shop for a short time. Jacqui mentioned that there's going to be a special day crafting with Judy (one of my online favourites) and it is going to be held on Saturday, 6th June... So if any of you are in Aberdeenshire on that day - why not treat yourself to a great crafting day out...

Above piccy is an example of Judy's handiwork (spotted this accordian card in the shop yesterday - fab or what?). Click Judy's link to see the inside of it...

... I've also included some piccy's of the 'eye candy' which can be found in this little piece of crafting heaven... There's lots to see (not just the fabulous stock) and you will certainly come away with lots of crafting inspiration and ideas from looking at the beautiful cards, scrapbook pages and other projects on display.

Fabulous designer papers (loads and loads to choose from (this piccy is only a fraction of what's in store). Plus lots and lots of rubber stamps (I've never seen so many in one shop)! These are just glimpses of what's available - there's more (much more)... Like I said before - it's crafting heaven...

I have one complaint however and that is I wish Alford was closer to where I live; however, perhaps it's better for my bank balance that it's not (I'm sure hubby will agree with that)! :D

Thanks to everyone who has left messages of appreciation re: the freebie sentiments... I appreciate every comment left. I hope to add more sentiments in the future (DV) and will probably put them under separate categories, e.g. Birthday, Wedding, Greetings, Fun Sentiments, etc... Hope you enjoy using them :D

Please note: If the sentiment does not open when clicked on - just right click over the digital image and choose SAVE PICTURE AS or the COPY option and they can be saved this way. Please be aware that using the COPY option in this way will only allow you to save the image into a Word document whereas the SAVE PICTURE AS option will allow you to save the digi into your picture / photo folder. Hope this helps concerning any which do not open. Thanks Amy hun for pointing out that there was a problem. Appreciated.

My 1st ever 'brag book'

These are my first ever digital brag book pages... completed in black and white for an 'oldy worldy' look. I really enjoyed making this project even thought I've been in pain doing so... I've only gone and put my back out lifting my dog (don't ask - it's a long story)! But wot am I like? Should have shares in pain killers - heaven knows - I've swallowed enough recently...

Holiday pics

Below: Alnwick Castle. This was a very impressive castle and the state rooms inside were beautiful. There are huge grounds outside and lots to see and do on site including visiting the Poison Garden which was pretty interesting because a castle guide teaches you about the various poisonous plants and trees within the garden plus the superstitions behind many of them. This castle was used in the filming of one of the Harry Potter films (but not sure which not being a Harry Potter fan myself). Second picture down is a little entrance into a gardener's courtyard. Below that is a piccy taken in the Bamboo Maze (fab for little kids and older kids too)! The waterfall in the picture below the Bamboo Maze had different settings and would spout various jets of water into the air and you could get soaked if you were in the way! This is a new attraction in the castle grounds and it looks pretty spectacular standing either above it looking down or below looking up. The bottom picture is the Tree House which houses a fabulous restaurant with a real log fire. Really unusual and interesting to look at as the restaurant has lots of entangled leafy tree branches inside and looks truly amazing from every corner inside. There are also a couple of rope bridges surrounding the tree house outside for those with a strong stomach for heights to venture across - I dared to venture across myself but would not recommend anyone crosses it in heels. I'm just glad hubby encouraged me to wear flat shoes that day 'cos I was going to wear high, narrow healed boots!

Below: Lindisfarne Priory. First piccy is the entrance to the priory; Second picture is the church at the priory and the piccy below that is the Rainbow Arch.

Below: Driving across the causeway towards Lindisfarne Castle and OOPS! Got wet in the process (or at least the car did). Third photo down is the hill down from the castle and the 2 below that are pictures of the entrance and stairway to and from the castle. Photos inside the caste are forbidden. That applied to all the castles we visited unfortunately.

Below: One of my favourite sunset snaps... We were really fortunate with the weather because it was sunny and warm during the days and the sunsets in the evenings were quite spectacular.

Below: The ruins of Kelso Abbey. This was a really beautiful site to visit and I loved taking snaps of this stunning old historic building...

Below: Pictures of Norham Castle. The bottom picture is how Norham Castle would have looked in it's complete state.

Below: Banburgh Castle (I loved this castle - it is well worth a visit if you are ever in the area as some of the interior rooms are amazing - especially the Halls). Also a photo of the view looking out to sea from one of the castle wall windows. Stunning location.

Warm days and sunset nights (bliss)

I've been away for the past 10 days and just got back tonight... thought you may like to see a piccy of one of the fab sunsets which I caught on camera whilst on my travels. I've a fair few more snaps but too tired to upload them tonight... Hope you have all been happy papercrafting during this time and enjoying the fab weather (at least it was fab in the south). Got back to snow on the hills tonight and a frost warning on the car dashboard as we were approaching the north east of Scotland! I guess I'll have to swap the T-shirts for fleece tops and dig out the water bottle again! Brrrrrrrrrr! Hope it's warmer where you are tonight...

NEWS UPDATE

Decisions, decisions - we all have to make them at some time or other... As some of you know, I have been suffering from a form of arthritis and being on line too much is not helping! However, many of my hobbies include being on line and so I have had to carefully consider how I can spend a lot less time on the www and still combine my 2 favourite hobbies, i.e. sharing my faith in Christ and paper crafting and so I have come up with a possible solution! I have created a combined blog site which includes both, i.e. 'Each Card Tells A Story.' And of course, if a new digi materialises during which time, I will post it on the side bar of this new site but please note that this new blog is not primarily a digi site.

I will not close down Digital Doodling meantime because there are digital stamps on site which others may still like to download and so it will remain open. However, Digital Doodling will not be updated in the near future although - who knows - it may operate again at a later date but this will very much depend on how I can manage and I'm sure you will all understand this. In the meantime, I can be found from time to time over on the new blog and you are all most definitely welcome to pop by...

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

The draw for the blog candy which is presently up for grabs will be brought forward to this evening at 8pm (closing time) and the winner will be announced at 9pm tonight. I have decided that I am going to close Digital Doodling meantime and am sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment this may cause to the site's many faithful followers.

As some of you know, I have been suffering from a form of arthritis and it is very uncomfortable trying to sketch on the little tablet which I use to doodle. I'm sure you will understand that I am having to cut down on my use on the Internet and sadly this includes working on my tablet too which I use to create the Digital Doodles. I want to say a special 'thank you' to all the Followers of this blog - you have been great and many have been a tremendous encouragement to me...(you know who you all are)!

I won't be going offline completely but I believe it is time to close the doors on DD (for now at least) and see how things go.

Wot a pain in the neck!

Got the result of my x-ray explained today and it turns out I have something called 'Osteophytosis' in my neck. Basically, we have 7 discs in our neck and turns out 2 of mine are wearing... what's more the reason my fingers have been going numb and painfully sore (plus other symptoms) is because the 2 discs which are wearing are the 2 which have to do with nerves. I have basically to ensure my posture is right when sitting and standing, not lift anything heavy, etc... plus keep taking the tablets! If things get any worse and I notice any weakness in my arm, etc - I have to go back asap. Apparently, Osteophytosis is a type of Arthritis. At least I know now! I guess I can count it a joy that it is not something more serious as it could be a lot worse :D

First of all I want to thank ((( ALL ))) the lovelies who posted some fantastic magazine covers for this particular challenge. There have been some really romantic covers posted, some scary, some stylish, and many funny ones and it really has been fun sifting through them since the start of the competition :D

I still have some blog entries to visit from this past week's entrants and apologise for not having done so but I am suffering from neck and wrist problems and have not been going online to see if this helps alleviate the pain. So if you find that I haven't yet visited your blog - I'm sure you will understand if I'm a little late in popping round...

My favourite 'hairy boy'

Trying to get BB to sit still for more than 3 seconds is a real challenge and I had to kid on I had a Bonio biccy for him (which he just about toppled me over in an attempt to find)!! Serves me right for telling porky pies :D

... Anyway, this is BB taken a short while ago in the snow... I tried to get a pic of him chasing snowballs but each time I just ended up with a tail and my feet as the end result so gave up on that idea...

P.S. BB got a Bonio when I got home and is a really happy boy now :D

Blog Award

I received this blog award from one of my favourite crafting ladies online, i.e. Mandy from a Sprinkling of Glitter a few days ago... I haven't been much on line since however as I got news this week that my uncle from Somerset died. He was 76 and died of a heart attack and although he was not well for some time, it was still a shock. He was the last surviving brother of my late dad and it brought back a lot of memories as my dad also died from a heart attack (aged 45).

Thought I would cheer myself up online today and see what everyone has been up to. Mandy, I am sorry I have not posted this award before today but I know you will understand. I have nominated these particular ladies for this blog award because they leave such grateful comments/messages on this site and/or have shown gratitude in other special ways... thank you girls and all the other lovely ladies who likewise extend gratitude on Digital Doodling - I appreciate you xx.

Crafty tip!

Most of us have all sorts of stencils in our craft boxes and here is a novel idea which you may wish to adopt using a favourite stencil next time your pals are round for a cappuccino:

Method

1 Make up your cappuchino as per usual (I used Nescafe as it's nice and creamy and only 73 calories :D)

2 Take a favourite stencil, e.g. a flower, handbag, etc (here I used a simple star to try it out)

3 Hold it steady over the cup

4 Dust some sprinkling cocoa gently over the top of the stencil and oila! One fancy cuppa :D

It's quick and easy to do and the stencil is easily cleaned afterwards.

Yehhh! Managed to get my camera working again - finally! I am using a different extension lead for uploading the pictures as I threw out the new one by mistake just before Christmas and didn't like to admit it (at least not until I got it sorted)!!! Hi all - hope you had a lovely Christmas. I had a quiet but lovely day at home. It was nice to relax and enjoy the festivities and just unwind from all the stress leading up to Christmas :D

I have managed to sort out the link problem I was having. It was a problem with my Internet Options which I managed to rectify thankfully. However, still having problems working out my new camera. It just isn't doing anything when I go to upload piccies to the Internet (very frustrating)!! That's not stopping me adding new goodies to the blog candy however - oh No!
